Company Profile and Business Description for Hill-Rom

Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc., incorporated on August 7, 1969, is a global medical technology company. The Company partners with healthcare providers by focusing on patient care solutions that improve clinical and economic outcome. It operates and manages its business in four segments: North America Patient Support Systems, International Patient Support Systems, Front Line Care and Surgical Solutions. The Company's products and services include Patient Support Systems, Front Line Care and Surgical Solutions. The Company sells and rents its specialty frames and surfaces, and mobility solutions, as well as its clinical workflow solutions, in the United States and Canada through its North America Patient Support Systems segment, and in regions outside of the United States and Canada through its International Patient Support Systems segment. Its Front Line Care segment globally sells and rents respiratory care products, and sells medical diagnostic equipment and a diversified portfolio of devices that assess, diagnose, treat and manage a range of illnesses and diseases. Under its Surgical Solutions segment, the Company sells its surgical products globally. Its business is dependent on Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), and certain other distributors and purchasers. The Company offers its products under trademarks, such as Hill-Rom, Bard-Parker and Welch Allyn.

Patient Support System

The patient support system includes a range of frames and surfaces, such as Medical Surgical (Med-Surg) beds, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and Bariatric patient beds, and mobility solutions, such as lifts and other devices used to move patients. It also includes non-invasive therapeutic products and surfaces, and communications technologies and software solutions. These patient support systems are for use in high, mid and low acuity settings, and are built to manage mobility, patient falls, caregiver injuries and caregiver efficiency, and prevent and care for pressure injuries. Supporting solutions within this product category include healthcare furniture and medical equipment management services. The Company also sells equipment service contracts for its capital equipment, primarily in the United States.

Front Line Care

The Front Line Care products include patient monitoring and diagnostics products of Welch Allyn Holdings, Inc. (Welch Allyn), a subsidiary of the Company, and the Company's respiratory products. Its patient monitoring and diagnostics products include blood pressure, physical assessment, vital signs monitoring, diagnostic cardiopulmonary, diabetic retinopathy screening and thermometry products. Its respiratory health products include the Vest System, VitalCough System and MetaNeb System. These products are designed to assist patients in the mobilization of retained blockages. Front Line Care products are sold globally within multiple settings, including primary care, acute care, extended care and home care.

Surgical Solutions

The Company's Surgical Solutions products include surgical tables, lights and pendants utilized within the operating room setting. The Company also offers various positioning devices used in shoulder, hip, spinal and lithotomy surgeries as well as platform-neutral positioning accessories for a range of models of the operating room table. The Company also offers operating room surgical safety and accessory products, such as scalpel and blade, light handle systems, skin markers and other disposable products. The Company primarily operates in three channels: sales and rentals of products to acute and extended care facilities, sales and rentals of products directly to patients in the home, and sales into primary care facilities.
