There is an investment philosophy which recommends adherence to Sharia laws. Shariah-compliant funds are investment funds which are in compliance with the requirements of Shariah law and the principles of the Islamic religion. Shariah-compliant funds are considered to be a type of socially responsible investing. Many exchange-traded funds (ETF) are available for the Sharia compliant investments. Such Shariah ETFs invest in the companies of stocks whose business operations and practices adhere to the requirements of Sharia laws. They may include companies which are operating in a socially responsible manner, may not be charging interest to its customers and vendors, may not be involved in the business of certain food items and their processing methods, and so on.
