The corona virus pandemic further polished the precious metals as a safe investment destination. Both gold and silver prices shot through the roof, and other two precious metals - namely, platinum and palladium - also witnessed strong investor interest.
A long list of Precious Metals ETFs already exists, and a sub-class within that is specific to the leveraged ETFs.
The Leveraged Precious Metals exchange-traded funds (ETF) are designed in such a way that they generate (both positive or negative) returns which are amplified by a factor. If the leverage factor is '3x' and the leveraged precious metal ETF is based on gold prices, then the return generated by leveraged precious metal ETF will get multiplied by three. For example, if the gold prices go down by 3% in a day, then the leveraged precious metal ETF based on gold prices with 3x leverage factor will go down by around 9%. If the gold prices shoot upwards by 2%, the leveraged precious metal ETF will go up by around 6%. (See list of Gold ETFs, Silver ETFs, Platinum ETFs, Palladium ETFs.)
Following is the list of all 10 exchange-traded funds that FKnol has in its database for ETFs which belong to the Leveraged Precious Metals category:
