The Mid cap market segment offers a big variety, and includes companies having a market capitalization value between $2 and $10 billion. Apart from a large universe of stocks which are available in the mid cap space, there are Mid Cap ETFs, Mid Cap Blend ETFs, Mid Cap Growth ETFs and Mid Cap Value ETFs, which offer a big variety to investors to choose investments in mid cap range.
Another category of mid cap segment that is gaining popularity is the Leveraged Mid Cap Exchange-traded Funds (ETF). As the variety of companies available in the space is huge, such mid cap leveraged ETFs also offer a big variety. They may be broad-based covering all sectors of the market, or may be sector or region specific. However, they generate the returns which are a magnified factor of the leverage, hence the name leveraged ETFs.
Other segments available are Leveraged Micro Cap ETFs, Leveraged Small Cap ETFs, Leveraged Large Cap ETFs, Leveraged Mega Cap ETFs and Leveraged Multi Cap ETFs.
Following is the list of all 9 exchange-traded funds that FKnol has in its database for ETFs which belong to the Leveraged Mid Cap category:

How Leveraged Mid Cap ETFs Work?

Most of the Leveraged Mid Cap ETFs track a particular mid cap stock market index, and it takes positions in its stocks or their corresponsing futures positions to generate the leveraged returns. For example, the broad-based S&P Mid Cap 400 index or the sector specific NYSE Arca Gold Miners index are two popular index of the U.S. Using advanced derivatives, the returns of the stated leveraged factor is achieved. The leveraged mid cap ETFs take futures positions on these indices, and achieve the magnified returns of the stated leverage factor. Typically, the factor is 2x, 3x or 4x, which amplifies the returns by the same value. However, its a high-risk, high-reward game, as returns are magnified by the same multiple for both profit and loss.
