There are a lot of variations in ETFs which can make them a suitable high beta ETF. The primary among them are the ones which simply invest the money in stocks of companies which are classified as high beta companies. The other ETFs take a different approach. For instance, there are a few sectors, like the energy sector, which are considered to be much more volatile than the rest. Similarly, there are a few countries or markets, like Greece or China, which may have had a high level of volatility in the recent past and may be considered volatile. The ETFs which may focus on such sectors, regions or markets may qualify them to be considered as high beta ETFs. To make things more interesting, there are leveraged ETFs which amplify the profits/losses generated from investment in the underlying asset, like List of 2x Leveraged Equities ETFs or the 3x Leveraged Equities ETFs. All such ETFs qualify as high beta ETFs.
