Gold-based exchange traded funds (ETF) have gained tremendous popularity as a low-cost financial security. It not only allows one to invest in gold for long term investment like a standard stock, but also allows day-trading opportunities in real time with tick-by-tick price changes. Gold has been the preferred precious metal for investment. In fact, it was the first ever currency that was used in ancient times. Gold has been the trusted asset for centuries, and many consider it to be the safest bet against inflation and even the big market declines, like the one resulting from Corona virus mess during February 2020. These kind of gold ETFs also offer good options to either amplify the returns by a given leverage factors (like 2x or 3x) or they may also offer inverse return option where the price of ETF unit moves opposite to the price of gold. One should look for Bear or Inverse in the names of such kind of Inverse Gold ETFs (List of Inverse Gold ETFs). The third kind of gold ETF invests in a select basket of stocks of companies that derive their business and revenues from gold based operations.
