USA ETF Screener:

How Cannabis ETFs Work?

After legalization of cannabis in a limited number of American states, a lot of companies have sprung up across the globe which are in the business of marijuana. Their primary business activities include growing, distribution or marketing of cannabis, research and development activities for the medical uses of marijuana in the biotech and pharma space, and use of cannabis in alcohol and tobacco industries for recreational purpose.
All cannabis exchange-traded funds (ETF) pool in the investors' money and invest it in the select basket of such cannabis stocks. There are a few dedicated cannabis tracking stock market index, which may be followed by the marijuana ETFs for passive investments. One can even find leveraged cannabis ETF like Indxx MicroSectors Cannabis 2X Leveraged ETN (MJO) to gain double the exposure of the underlying cannabis market index. (See list of Leveraged Equities ETFs.), which amplify the profits (and losses) by a certain factor. One may possibly also see the inverse cannabis ETFs in future which generate a return in opposite direction of the underlying tracking index. (See list of Inverse Equity ETFs.)
