Airlines Stocks Performance of 2019

Updated Apr 18, 2019
Airline companies primary business is to transport people and cargo from one location to the other through the aerial route. It scores over the other slower mediums like rail, road and sea. With little resistance to the movement in the friction-less skies, airlines offer one of the quickest mode to transport. Investors have found airline stocks as an interesting bet, and historical performance has indicated that returns from airline company stocks have been highly volatile with wide swings in prices.
Apart from operational efficiencies, on-time performances, track-record of the flight handling and customer service make some of the important factors for airlines which may translate into returns or losses from airline stocks. Additionally, airlines have significant dependence on the skilled manpower, like those of expert and experienced pilots and crew members. Add to it the dependency on the aviation fuel prices which have shown high volatility depending upon the global financial outlook, the risk of airline companies becomes even more apparent. Additionally, the public image of an airline may also make or break based on the other untoward incidents, like accidents, mid-air disappearances, and handling of the situation.
Despite all such concerns, airlines make an interesting sector to invest allowing for wider diversification.
