Briggs & Stratton Corporation (Briggs & Stratton), incorporated on September 2, 1992, is a producer of gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment. The Company designs, manufactures, markets, sells and services the various products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) around the world. The Company also markets and sells related service parts and accessories for its engines. The Company's subsidiary is a marketer of pressure washers, and it is a designer, manufacturer and marketer of power generation, lawn and garden, turf care and job site products through its Simplicity, Snapper, Snapper Pro, Ferris, PowerBoss, Allmand, Billy Goat, Murray, Branco and Victa brands. Briggs & Stratton products are designed, manufactured, marketed, sold and serviced in over 100 countries on six continents. The Company operates through two segments: Engines and Products.

Engines

The Company's Engines segment sells engines around the world, primarily to OEMs of lawn and garden equipment and other gasoline engine-powered equipment. The Company manufactures four-cycle aluminum alloy gasoline engines with horsepower ranging from 5.5 horsepower to 37 horsepower and torques that range from 4.50 foot-pounds gross torque to 21 foot-pounds gross torque. The Company's engines are used primarily by the lawn and garden equipment, including walk-behind lawn mowers, riding lawn mowers, garden tillers and snow throwers. The Company also manufactures replacement engines and service parts, and sells them to sales and service distributors.

The Company competes with Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Kohler Co.

Products

The Company's Products segment designs, manufactures and markets a range of outdoor power equipment, job site products and related accessories. The Company's principal product lines include portable and standby generators, pressure washers, snow throwers, lawn and garden power equipment, turf care, and job site products. The Company's Product sells its products through various channels of retail distribution, including consumer home centers, warehouse clubs, mass merchants and independent dealers. The Company sells its lawn and garden products and standby generators, primarily through an independent dealer network and sells its pressure washers and portable generators primarily through the United States mass retail channel. The Company's Products segment product lines are marketed under its own brands, such as Briggs & Stratton, Simplicity, Snapper, Snapper Pro, Ferris, Allmand, Billy Goat, Murray, Branco and Victa, as well as other brands, such as Craftsman, GE and Troy-Bilt.
